Watertown YMCA

Project Details

The Watertown Collective acquired a 55,000-square-foot property and completed extensive renovations across three floors. This dynamic space now includes a new YMCA Child Care and Early Education Center, as well as a satellite Express YMCA. To bring the space to life, ArtLine LTD partnered with the YMCA, creating impactful art installations and branded spaces that truly reflect the spirit and mission of the organization.

Obstacles
Many of the designs for this project incorporated multiple layers and dimensions, all while adhering to precise branding guidelines. Adding to the challenge, the acoustic features had to be suspended from the ceiling, which is never an easy task!

Final Result
We designed and installed four distinct wall graphics that perfectly captured the YMCA's branding and conveyed its message with bold, eye-catching designs. One graphic featured a dimensional branded logo sign, while another, located in the studio, showcased colored glass chevron cutouts layered over the graphic for added depth. The gym's wall graphic also incorporated colored glass cutouts, creating a vibrant and dynamic look.

In the new YMCA yoga studio, we addressed significant echo issues caused by the 24-foot ceilings with a unique acoustic treatment. By using PET paneling, we were able to achieve 50% sound absorption. These panels, cut into interlocking patterns, offer endless customization options with almost any Pantone color, either sprayed or printed on. Our install team did an outstanding job with the suspension system, creating a stunning effect by alternating hanging heights in just one day.

Finally, in the childcare area, we installed a large, multi-layered framed art piece encouraging parents to talk, read, and play with their children daily. Additionally, we created a nearly 20-foot-long, 10-foot-tall word wall graphic display with a printed acrylic overlay in the childcare vestibule. The offset acrylic gave this display a unique, dimensional look that stands out beautifully.
